Subjunctive

                                                  

Subjunctive adalah suatu tata bahasa yang mengemukakan suatu maksud, dambaan, harapan atau ulasan biasanya bertentangan dengan kenyataan yang sesngguhnya.

A.  Jenis-jenis subjunctive

1.   Subjunctive after “wish”

·        Present subjunctive:

 subject-1 + Wish + subject-2 + past tense

                   contoh: - I wish he were here

                   -I wish i knew the answer

2.   Subjunctive after “if only”

·        Subjunctive present :

If only + subject + past tense

                  Contoh : -if only I were rich

                                -If only I loved him deeply

       

3.   Subjunctive after “would rather”

·        Present subjunctive

Subject-1 + would rather + subject-2 + pastense + keterangan waktu

Contoh: - I would rather you thought it carefully now.

                       -I would rather I stayed with my parents
